Personal Data Scan

The Personal Data Scan identifies files stored on your computer that could contain sensitive personal information, such as credit card numbers and Social Security Numbers (SSNs), posing a risk of identity theft.

After the Smart Scan, the Personal Data Scan process flow reveals any detected files potentially containing sensitive data, enabling users to review them and take additional actions, such as checking for data leaks and accessing Trend Micro ID Protection (the product) via redirection to the Trend Micro ID Protection Portal 

Note: The information scanned or detected remains on the user's computer and is never transmitted to our servers

In this release, the primary focus lies on backend enhancements and resolving identified issues within Trend Micro Security extensions.

What Happened?

Customers have reported that apps/programs operate slower when Trend Micro Security is running on their computer, resulting in delays in their usage, and they have also noticed that apps are slower to start up and work compared to before.

What You Need to Know

The problem occurred because a special character was used in the code of a Trend Micro component, which caused incompatibility issues and resulted in the scan functionality problem.

What to Do?

Trend Micro has addressed this issue by releasing a new update on March 19, 2024, with build version 17.8.1192, which resolves the problem.

Recommended troubleshooting steps:
     1. Open the Trend Micro Main Console.
     2. Click ""About the Software"" to check for the latest update.
     3. After updating, verify that the new version is 17.8.1192.
     4. Test to see if the issue has been resolved and application performance has improved.

"Unable to Continue" error message while using the Scan Website feature in Safari on your mobile device.

Product experts have identified the root cause of this problem. The iOS 17.3 OS version update introduced a change related to NSExtensionJavaScriptPreprocessingFile, which directly affects the functionality of the SafeSurfing extension used for website scanning.

Bug Fix

Trend Micro has reconfigured the affected function to ensure compatibility with the iOS 17.3 OS version. Now, you can seamlessly continue scanning websites in Safari without encountering any "Unable to Continue" error messages.
