  • RE: Safe

    Hi,

Thanks for flagging this, and sorry for the wait on a response I know submitting samples and hearing nothing back is frustrating.

    A couple of things:

On the HTTPS point: HTTPS only means the connection between the app and its server is encrypted in transit. It says nothing about whether the app itself is malicious, poorly coded, or misusing data, plenty of malware and scam apps use HTTPS today, so it's not a safety signal on its own. What actually matters is the app's behavior (permissions requested, what it sends and where, code signing, developer reputation, etc.), which is what our analysis actually checks for.

On the submission delay, could you confirm how you submitted these and roughly when? That'll help me check on the status or get someone to escalate it. If you have any reference/ticket numbers from the submission, please share those too.

In the meantime, if these are APK files or links, avoiding installing/using them until you get a verdict back is the safest bet.

    Regards,
    Dencel

  • RE: Nagging unsecured Wi-Fi connection alert

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and we completely understand how frustrating it can be to receive repeated alerts — especially when you feel you've already addressed the concern!

Here's what's happening: Trend Micro Mobile Security's Wi-Fi checker monitors your connection continuously for security risks. Even if you've marked a network as trusted, certain conditions (such as network configuration changes, DHCP renewals, or the app re-evaluating the connection state) can trigger the alert again.

Regarding your VPN — while a VPN does add a layer of protection, the Wi-Fi alert is generated at the network level before the VPN tunnel is fully evaluated by the app. The feature is designed to warn about the underlying network properties (e.g., lack of encryption, open network), regardless of whether a VPN is active on top of it.

To reduce the frequency of these alerts, you can try the following:
    1. Open Trend Micro Mobile Security and go to Wi-Fi Checker.
    2. Re-add the network to your trusted list if it was removed after a reconnection.
    3. If the alerts persist every 20 seconds, please check that you're running the latest version of the app, as this sounds like it may be an abnormal alert loop that we'd want to investigate further.

If updating and re-trusting the network doesn't resolve it, we'd recommend contacting our support team directly at Chat with Trend Micro Support | Trend Micro Help Center so we can look into your specific device and app configuration.

Thanks for using Trend Micro, and we appreciate your patience!
