I work for a computer company that sells and runs up machines to customer specs. We sell Trendmicro as our antivirus option and I configure multiple accounts per day. The OPT-IN auto renew has no OPT-OUT option, and also auto renews to a more expensive product in some cases (See 1 device Trendmicro Maximum licenses auto renewing to 5 user licenses - because Betty the 70yo retire with 1 laptop needs 5 licenses next year). Can we please have an OPT-OUT option for people who do not want to attach a payment method to their account, for people who want to pay cash and for people who do not want to be auto renewed to a more expensive product. I do not feel comfortable contacting clients over the phone to request card information for a product that promotes security - and that has ALREADY been paid for.

TM_Ina, your solution is NOT a solution. Did you even read Slad's question??? He said that he didn't want to enter Credit Card details for customers because he didn't feel comfortable asking customers for their Credit Card details.

I'm in the same boat and not longer sell or recommend Trend to my customers because I don't believe they should be FORCED to enter their Credit Card details just to use a product that THEY HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR! Can Trend 100% guarantee that my stored Credit Card details will never ever be hacked or stolen??? I didn't think so.

You need to allow people to opt out. Plain and simple.

Hi there! 


I totally get how confusing subscriptions and auto‑renew settings can be, especially when you bought the product from a retail store or third-party reseller.

If you bought Trend Micro from a retail store or a third-party reseller: 
- To activate your subscription, you’ll need to sign in to (or create) a Trend Micro account and enter the activation code that came with the box or receipt. During activation, you’ll be asked to add billing details to set up auto‑renew.

Just to reassure you:
- You won’t be charged right away
- Your card is only used when the subscription is about to expire

Do you want to turn off auto‑renew?
No problem — you can do that anytime after activation:
1.  Go to https://account.trendmicro.com and sign in
2.  Go to Licenses tab 
3.  Locate your active subscription and click Manage Subscription
4.  Select Cancel Subscription / Stop Auto‑Renew

Turning off auto‑renew doesn’t cancel your current protection.
Your subscription will stay active until its expiration date — it just stops future automatic charges.
