    Attention Trend Micro Community!

    New Update!

    We have successfully implemented a fix for the 2FA verification issue affecting your Trend Micro My Account. 
    This would let you use the SMS 2FA codes to access your account.

    Still having the same issue?

    You can refer to the same workaround below if you are still experiencing the same issues. 

    If you have configured multiple Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) methods for your account, you can use the 'Use another method' option if you haven't received the SMS authentication within 120 seconds. This allows you to regain access to your account.

    However, if you have only configured SMS authentication for your account, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.

    For users in the US using T-Mobile as their network provider:

    • It is advised to utilize alternative authentication methods like email verification, social sign-ins, or authenticator apps to improve security and enhance the user authentication process.

    For users with different network providers and users from AU/NZ:

    • Please refer to the Help Center guide for assistance. You can find the guide at the following link:

    What Happened?

    Customers have reported that apps/programs operate slower when Trend Micro Security is running on their computer, resulting in delays in their usage, and they have also noticed that apps are slower to start up and work compared to before.

     

     

    What You Need to Know

    The problem occurred because a special character was used in the code of a Trend Micro component, which caused incompatibility issues and resulted in the scan functionality problem.

     

     

    What to Do?

    Trend Micro has addressed this issue by releasing a new update on March 19, 2024, with build version 17.8.1192, which resolves the problem.

     

    Recommended troubleshooting steps:
         1. Open the Trend Micro Main Console.
         2. Click ""About the Software"" to check for the latest update.
         3. After updating, verify that the new version is 17.8.1192.
         4. Test to see if the issue has been resolved and application performance has improved.

    These scam callers are posing as legitimate Trend Micro personnel, claiming they have detected issues on your computer or that your subscription needs renewal. Please be aware that Trend Micro does not initiate support calls of this nature. Do not allow these scammers to remotely access your computer.

     

     

    What You Need to Know

    • Identifying Scam Calls

      Genuine Trend Micro representatives will never contact you unsolicited via phone for technical support or subscription renewals. If you receive such a call, it is likely a scam.


    • Protect Your Information

      Do not provide any personal or financial information to these callers. Trend Micro will never ask for sensitive information over the phone.


    • Stay Vigilant

      If you're uncertain about the legitimacy of a call, hang up and contact Trend Micro directly through official channels to verify.

    Run the hotfix below:

    1. Download the Hotfix.
    2. Double-click on Ti_1780_win_en_ForceSN_hfb0001.
    3. Confirm by clicking Yes when the User Account Control window appears.
