What’s the best way to reset Instagram password?

I’m having trouble getting back into my Instagram account. I forgot my password and now I’m stuck. I tried the usual steps to reset Instagram password, but the email link took forever to show up, and when it finally did, it didn’t open properly on my phone.

Is there a more reliable way to reset an Instagram password that actually works? I’ve seen different instructions online and I’m not sure which one is the latest. Also once I’m back in, I definitely want to change my Instagram password to something stronger. Just not sure where to find that option in the app.
