Important: Password Manager Ends Support!
Trend Micro Password Manager has stopped working starting November 16, 2025. To keep using a password manager, move your passwords and notes to Trend Micro ID Protection as soon as you can! For more information, click here ↗
It sounds like Trend Micro Maximum Security is flagging a file from Fallout: New Vegas as a "false positive." This often happens with older games or specific mods (like NVSE) that use "DLL injection" to work. To fix this, you need to restore the file and then add it to the Exception List so Trend Micro ignores it in the future.
Step 1: Restore the deleted file If the file is already gone, it is likely in Trend Micro's "Quarantine."
Open the Trend Micro main console.
Click the Security Report icon (it looks like a small chart or document).
Click on Security Threats.
Find the file related to Fallout: New Vegas in the list.
Select the file and click Restore.
Click Yes when the warning appears.
Step 2: Add the file to the Exception List Once the file is back, you must tell Trend Micro to stop scanning it, or it will just delete it again.
On the Trend Micro main console, click the Settings icon (the gear).
Go to Exception Lists in the left-hand menu.
Click Programs/Folders.
Click the + Add button.
Click Browse and navigate to your Fallout: New Vegas installation folder.
Default Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas
Select the specific file that was being deleted (or select the entire game folder to be safe) and click Open.
Click Apply, then OK.
Step 3: Verify the game files (if needed) If the file didn't appear in the Quarantine list or the game still won't launch, Steam can replace the missing file for you:
Open Steam and go to your Library.
Right-click Fallout: New Vegas and select Properties.
Go to the Installed Files (or Local Files) tab.
Click Verify integrity of game files.
[!TIP] Why is this happening? Many Fallout: New Vegas mods (like the Script Extender) use techniques that look suspicious to modern antivirus software even though they are safe. If you are using mods, it is highly recommended to add the entire game folder to the Exception List.
I apologize for the inconvenience. To stop receiving notifications from the Password Manager, you will need to uninstall it from your computer. Here is a guide to help you with the uninstallation: How to Uninstall Password Manager | Trend Micro Help Center
