Hi

I've been trying to fix this issue for years. The outsourced IT trend support staff have no idea on how to fix it. My guess is its a programming problem that no one has escalated.

All the so called fixes you are advised from the IT support people are useless and don't work.  It baffles me why they tell users to clear caches, direct us to add/remove programs and extensions. After many years of complaints, they continually roll out the same responses. You would think by now they'd realise their 'fixes' don't work !

From my research it appears that people have been complaining about this for several years.

I thought the mute option might be the fix, but this too doesn't work.

Like myself, I would suggest you buy a different anti Virus like MacAfee or Norton and ask Trend for a refund .

Pick up your game Trend !!! Not good enough.

Hi, @camassac , sorry if it's been troubling you for years now.

If a trend micro notification keeps appearing about a website being blocked, then it's less likely to be a programming problem.

You could be having a website redirection virus infection. this needs to be thoroughly checked. commonly caused by other malicious applications, malicious browser extensions or cache data.

When was the last time you contacted us regarding this issue?
Please let us know so we can review the case. perhaps we can arrange a proper assistance regarding this matter.

Hi Gustavriver,

Ignore what the trend IT support have responded to you in their post below. If you read my earlier post you'll u/stand why.

After months of researching the issue and fiddling around and doing their job I think I may have found the solution to the pop up blocker problem.

Open the main console, select family icon , parental control opens up, click configure.

Now depending on how you have setup this section you may need to configure each account (if you have children accounts setup, you may want to keep their configuration based on age restrictions so inappropriate content is automatically blocked). This of course will continue to show the pop ups when they are logged in.

If you have your account (and this maybe the only account you have for everyone) setup with an age restriction setting, then you need to change it to CUSTOM. This is where I think the problem is.

Firstly, if your name is not showing in the parental controls window select manage accounts. Scroll down, find your name / account on this list and tick the box. When you return to the parental control window click WEBSITE FILTER.  In here, where it says select an age, (this is the age restriction setting) select CUSTOM.

In here the only boxes I have ticked are pornography, illegal/questionable, violence/hate/racism and gambling. So far, the pop up has not reappeared. You can always try to add back one option at a time to get more security. I haven't tried that yet, just enjoying the NO popups atm.

Let me know if you need more info and especially let me know if it works.

Thanks Trend Micro !!

You have got to be kidding me !

" You could be having a website redirection virus infection. this needs to be thoroughly checked. commonly caused by other malicious applications, malicious browser extensions or cache data. "

See my last post today, if it works you can thank me later, maybe even throw in a life time of free subscriptions !

Thank you for sharing that, camassac!

The Website Blocked pop-up appears when Trend Micro detects that the website you're trying to visit could be potentially harmful or dangerous. It may continue to show up because Trend Micro is still detecting the website in your browser history. That is the reason why we recommend clearing your browser cache regularly.

Hi gustavriver,

You may also follow the steps provided by camassac. Also, please make sure to clear browsing data and check the extensions on all of the installed browsers on your computer.

You may also try to delete the temporary files on your computer and check if the issue still persists. You may refer to these steps below:

Step 1: Open the Run window.

  • On your keyboard, press the Windows Key + R key at the same time.

Step 2: Type the following locations, and then delete the temporary files.

  • Temp
  • %temp%

Step 3: Empty the Recycle Bin

Hope this helps.
