According to the system requirements for the Maximum Security product (https://helpcenter.trendmicro.com/en-us/article/tmka-19439), the product should be installable/supported on the Qualcomm X chip.

On a new Surface Laptop 7, which is running the Qualcomm X ARM chip, during installation Microsoft will display a dialog box stating that "this app can't run on this device".  Further explanation is that "This app can''t run because it causes security or performance issues with Windows. A new version may be available ..."  Also displayed in the dialog box is a "Learn More"  button, which when click will take you to the Windows ARM-based PCs FAQ page, explaining that some applications are not compatible with ARM chips.

So, is the System Requirements for the Maximum Security product incorrect, and the recent Qualcomm ARM chip is not support?  Or, is there an alternative installation method for ARM based chips that the one that is documented on the website?

Or if Maximum Security doesn't currently support the Qualcomm X chip is there an ETA when it will be supported?

Hello,

1. May I ask where did you downloaded the installer for Maximum Security?
2. What's the Windows Version Installed on your device?
3. Can you also please attach the Error Message you encountered?

Can you also refer on this link: How to Install Trend Micro Maximum Security on ARM-Based Windows Computers | Trend Micro Help Center

Thank you!

2.  Edition Windows 11 Home
     Version 24H2
     Installed on ‎4/‎25/‎2024
     OS build 26100.1457
3. Here is a Screenshot of the error message

Sorry for the use of the pCloud URLs, the discussion software doesn't seem to have the ability to attach files/images

Could be something with you running the 24H2, it is still considered Insider software and they recommend not running 3rd part AVs on the Insider Builds

Hi David davevt31,

Please check if your system meets these requirements:
  •  At least a 1 GHz processor (supports ARM-based processors)
  • At least 2 GB of RAM
  • Windows 10, 11, or a later version
Please try to run the installer as admin.
  1. Hover your mouse on the Trend Micro file installer
  2. Right click on the mouse > "Run as Administrator"

Hope this helps.

The Surface Laptop exceeds all minimum requirements to install Trend Micro.

When running the installer in administrator the same message from Microsoft Windows is displayed.

While 24H2 is considered an insider release it is a requirement on laptops running the Qualcomm X chip.  Even though it is an insider/beta version of Windows I would not expect Microsoft to prevent installation, instead I would expect either Trend Micro's installer to prevent installation or it would install but Trend Micro would not provide support until Microsoft officially releases 24H2

Neither approaches in This app can't run on this device error from Trend Micro worked, the same Program Compatibility message is displayed.

Hi,

As David davevt31 mentioned, installation issue is most probably caused by the 24H2. Technically speaking, the program is not, at least to some extent, compatible with preview builds reason why Trend Micro installer is not preventing the installation nor properly installing the program.
